Mpondo waterfalls 4 night itinerary
An exploration of northern Mpondolands most amazing beaches, rivers and waterfalls. This 54km hiking expedition is designed with family in mind - getting you close to nature.

Day 1
Wild coast walk 12km
Starting at the Northern most section of the wild coast, we cross the Mzamba river to enter the tribal lands of Mpondoland . We have a few secret locations to visit before arrival at our Night Jar river camp and the base for our first 2 nights.
Day 2
Hidden falls expedition 12km
We expedition today firstly by kayak, then by tractor to the start of our custom route through the Mnyameni river basin. We visit 3 waterfalls and enjoy lunch at a secret location before making our way back to our camp for an evening of stories around the camp fire.


Day 3
Xolobeni traverse 16km
After an early swim in the ocean we leave Mnyameni behind, we traverse the iconic red sand deserts of Xolobeni before arrival for lunch at Sikhombi river mouth. Today is a hiking day and this route will test your endurance while taking in the natural beauty of northern Mpondoland. Our destination is our all inspiring Inkwazi camp perched above the Mtentu river. This position is our home for the next 2 nights while we explore the Mtentu and Mkhambathi rivers.
Day 4
Mkhambathi nature reserve 13km
Day 4 we cross the mighty Mtentu river in kayaks before making tracks in the Mkhambathi nature reserve. On route we are blessed with wild game sightings before arriving at Horseshoe falls and the impressive Mkhambathi river system which leads us to the ocean. Tonight we dine with our local community pure Mpondo style while reminiscing about our days journey.
